Until the next hello

Your evening, my morning — Two cups of coffee, hours apart. We started sending a photo before the first sip so there was always a little hello waiting.

Dinner with the laptop open — We picked the same recipe. Yours looked like the picture. Mine looked like an apology. We ate together anyway.

I saw you before you saw me — I had rehearsed what to say at arrivals. Then you walked through the doors and all I could do was wave.

Another date circled — The ticket confirmation arrived during a meeting. I spent the rest of it trying not to smile at my screen.
